"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"- High Fidelity

music is kind of my life. and i almost feel bad in saying that, because i don't create a living through music, i don't perform any instrument, but i do live, breathe, feel music. i could go on and on about specific lyrics that have changed my life, specific concerts that have changed my life, specific artists, albums, songs that have changed my life, but i won't. i have a friend who makes fun of me terribly for being so passionate about music, and that's okay, he just doesn't understand morrissey like i do. he doesn't feel heartbreak w/nina like i do. he doesn't know what it's like to hear new order and be transported to 5th ave. i actually became friends with him because of djshadow. anyways, check out my lastfm. if you're apart of the international mixtape project, let me know! and if not, we can send mixtapes anyways!!

neko's voice wasn't as wacky as i thought it'd be. got rained on, but it was less crowded than last year. midlake is also an awful radiohead wanna-be cover band.

19.4.07
st. vincent and john vanderslice at mercury lounge, nyc
i went by myself, which was kind of daunting, but i have to say, annie is a-mazing and i could've spent all night listening to her, she's my total girl crush, she's so freaking talented and beautiful, i can't gush enough about her, go see her! and john vanderslice is hilarious, having a dance party after the show pumping naz and clipse, love it! oh and peter hughs from the mountain goats and matt from nada surf were special guests!

3.4.07
land of talk at union hall, brooklyn
can i just say, elizabeth is too cute!! she's hilarious, charming, endearing, has an amazing voice, i totally love her! if you haven't got their ep, get it, and go see them! yay for another hit montreal indie band, eh??
